Exhaust gas

When the car repair shop repairs a car, the haulage contractor repairs a truck, or the building contractor a ditch digger, often Geovent products are in use. Our wide range of hose reels ensures that the user always has a hose at hand, when there is a need for efficient extraction of exhaust fumes. Our channel duct solutions are easy and flexible to equip, e.g., so that the exhaust fumes from trucks and other vehicles are easily extracted at the source. The result of a Geovent professional solutions is a workplace, which secures a better working environment for the mechanics, with clear air and no hoses laying around on the floor.

With a professional extraction solution customers get the impression of a professional and well-run repair shop.

Fire trucks and other emergency vehicles with diesel engines potentially have a high emission of pollutants inside the fire station. In case of emergency the respiratory rate of the fire men is increased as a result of stress and hurry, and in addition more pollutants are inhaled, which increases the risk of harm to the body.

Our systems for exhaust extraction from fire trucks and emergency vehicles are an efficient solution. Different systems are recommended depending on the characteristics and the size of the fire trucks, the fire station etc..

Diesel engine emissions must always be captured at the exhaust pipe outlet. Exhaust gas extraction must work with negative pressure and equipment must be designed to capture exhaust gases at the source to the highest possible extend and must be extracted out of the fire station.

To ease the use in case of an emergency the extraction must come from above and it must be as close as possible to the exhaust pipe of the vehicle.

An example of an efficient solution is an extraction system that automatically starts the fan when the alarm goes and disconnects when the vehicle leaves the fire station.

Frequently asked questions

Below you will find answers to some of the most common questions which we receive from customers.
If you have other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Yes! We have our channel duct system, made for moving vehicles, or moving work areas.
We also have our PRS and MRS(G) systems, made for emergency vehicles start up inside the garage and drive out.

We have made a line specifically for emergency vehicles where the extraction nozzle disconnects automatically and moves out of the way as the vehicle exits the garage.

Vehicle exhaust fumes can irritate the eyes and respiratory tract, and are a risk to health by breathing in. Carbon-fuelled engine fumes contain carbon monoxide, a poisonous gas. Prolonged exposure to diesel fumes, especially blue or black smoke, may lead to coughing and breathlessness. Long-term repeated exposure to diesel fumes over a period of about 20 years may increase the risk of lung cancer.

Exhaust fumes can quickly reach harmful concentrations, particularly from cold or intermittently run engines (when run indoors without exhaust ventilation). Don’t rely on catalytic converters to run engines safely indoors. They are less effective when exhaust gases are relatively cool, eg from vehicles idling for long periods or used intermittently for short periods. Catalytic converters do not remove toxic oxides of nitrogen.

Keep the workplace well ventilated. Connect an exhaust gas extraction system to the vehicle tailpipe when idling, particularly when working in a vehicle inspection pit. It should ventilate to a safe place in the open air – where fume will not be drawn back into the workshop or affect other premises or people nearby. Maintain couplings and flexible connections in good condition to prevent leaks. You should not rely on vehicle access doors being left open to provide ventilation as in winter these will be kept closed.
