Geovent provides special solution for emergency vehicles

How to effectively remove exhaust gas from fire engines with special exhaust pipes? While needing a flexible solution that disconnects the system from the fire truck at call-out? This question Geovent receive from a customer.

The British Air Force uses American fire engines at their airports and these require a special solution to remove exhaust gas when the fire engines are started on call-out. This avoids the firefighters being exposed to the polluting exhaust gas.

Both the design of the nozzle and the position of the exhaust pipe were a challenge, but also that the nozzle has to be flexible during the call-out. At the same time, the customer wanted the solution to be operable from the ground, despite the size of the fire engines.

In a close cooperation with the customer, Geovent developed an arm on which the special suction head is mounted. The length of the arm allows the solution to be operated from the ground. An electromagnet is placed on the arm and is connected to the fire truck. When the fire truck leaves the fire station, the power to the magnet is switched off and the system is disconnected. This makes the solution both efficient and flexible, and solves the customer’s challenges to full satisfaction.
